Poole Harbour, Dorset, UK
Commissioned by Taylor Woodrow in association with Poole Borough Council, 2005
The sculpture comprises a series of standing stones arranged to dynamic effect. Its silhouette reflects visual elements of the boats’ masts and sails in the harbour beyond the site, and frames views in either direction.
“I am delighted....and amazed at how the 'pure' medium used is so fluid in its effect. Hamish Horsley has captured perfectly the essence of Poole and all its ancient maritime history, by bringing us into the present with this innovative but classic piece" Mayor of Poole, Cllr Mrs Judy Butt.
Material: Portland stone
Dimensions: 12 x 4 x 2 meters
